SMS in Bangla now @ Tk 0.25

The telecom regulator directs all the mobile phone operators in the country to reduce the charges of each local SMS to Tk 0.25 that are written in Bengali alphabet, aiming to promote the mother language.

The telecom regulator has directed all the mobile phone operators in the country to reduce the charges of each local SMS to Tk 0.25 that are written in Bengali alphabet, aiming to promote the mother language.

However, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has not say anything about other SMSs that has the upper limit of Tk 0.50 for each SMSs, had set few years ago.

The BTRC has issued the order to the mobile operators on last Thursday and that they asked to implement from tomorrow (June 20), reads the letter.

Officials of the BTRC said they have instructed the mobile operators as the telecom minister has rigger to promote Bangali language in different ways in the telecom business.
