Beacon Pharma observes Lung Cancer Awareness Month 2025

The programme focused on educating employees and officials about lung cancer prevention, risk factors, and the importance of timely medical attention.

Beacon Pharmaceuticals PLC marked Lung Cancer Awareness Month 2025 with a seminar and symbolic "Plant the Flag" campaign at its Mymensingh factory premises, reaffirming its commitment to health awareness and early cancer detection.

The programme focused on educating employees and officials about lung cancer prevention, risk factors, and the importance of timely medical attention.

Renowned clinical oncologist Dr. A.T.M. Sajjad Hossain delivered the keynote address, highlighting smoking, secondhand smoke, air pollution, and occupational exposures as major risk factors. He also drew attention to early warning signs such as persistent cough, chest pain, shortness of breath, and unexplained weight loss.

"Awareness is our strongest tool—both for prevention and early detection," said Dr. Sajjad. "Ignoring symptoms can be life-threatening, but timely diagnosis and proper treatment can save lives."

S.M. Mahmudul Haque Pallab, Head of Oncology, Biotech, and Palliative Care Divisions at Beacon Pharmaceuticals PLC, reiterated the company's dedication to promoting workplace health awareness. "Throughout November, we are amplifying the message of lung cancer awareness among our employees and communities," he said. "Our efforts focus on three key pillars—smoke-free environments, knowledge-based training, and timely medical consultation."

The event concluded with a symbolic "Plant the Flag" ceremony, where employees and officials planted flags across the factory premises to honor those who have lost their lives to lung cancer and to show solidarity with those currently fighting the disease.
