CUB welcomes freshers at Fall 2025 orientation in Dhaka

Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) held its Orientation Programme for Fall 2025 Trimester and Summer 2025 By-Semester students on November 29 at the Pragati Sharani campus.

The session was presided over by Professor H M Jahirul Haque, Vice Chancellor of CUB. Chowdhury Jafarullah Sharafat, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees, attended as chief guest.

Welcoming new students, Chowdhury Jafarullah Sharafat said students should understand their surroundings alongside academic study. He said the start of university life is a time to learn, to be creative, and to innovate. He said students should develop themselves while supporting their families and the nation, and that their work and experiences would inspire them in the future.

Vice Chancellor Professor H M Jahirul Haque said students need to focus on academic study and on becoming good human beings. He said they should work to excel in different fields so they can contribute to their families, the country, and the wider world. He said mutual cooperation among students would help advance the university.

He said CUB is working to build a student-friendly environment through modern classrooms, laboratories, qualified faculty, theoretical and practical learning, and co-curricular activities.

Those present included Professor A S M Sirajul Haque, Treasurer; Professor Dr Kazi Abu Taher, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology; and Professor Dr Fazilatun Nessa, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Life Sciences. The welcome address was delivered by A S M G Faruk, Registrar (In-Charge).

The programme was conducted by Benjir Rahman, Chairperson of the Department of Business Administration. Others attending included Dr Saiful Haque, Chairperson of Media Communication and Journalism; Hasanuzzaman, Chairperson of CSE; Captain Md Nasir Uddin, Chairperson of Shipping and Maritime Science; Mohd Sanjad Sheikh, Chairperson of Law; and Regina Sultana, Chairperson of English, along with faculty members, staff, and students. The event ended with a cultural performance by students.
