IUB’s 2-day international business conference ICEBTM 2025 ends at Westin

Experts from industry and academia joined several “Industry Talk” and “Academia-Industry Discussion” sessions.

The two-day International Conference on Economics, Business and Technology Management (ICEBTM) 2025, organised by the School of Business and Entrepreneurship of Independent University, Bangladesh, ended on November 15, 2025, at The Westin Dhaka.

Didar A Husain, Chairman of IUB's Board of Trustees; Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Tamim; Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Daniel W Lund; Acting Dean Prof Dr Raisul Awal Mahmud; Conference General Chair Prof Dr Md Mamun Habib; and A K M Shahnawaj, Managing Director (Current Charge) of Dhaka Bank PLC, spoke at the closing ceremony. IUB Trustee Wajid Ali Khan Panni, Trustee Dr Husne Ara Ali and Prof Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, were also present. Six papers received awards.

Prof Dr Mamun Habib said IUB plans to hold student research symposiums every year and a major international conference every two years. He said the university's new Advancing Undergraduate Research Aspirations [AURA] initiative will help build a strong research culture.

Prof Dr Rajah Rasiah of the University of Malaya and Dr Ahmad Ahsan of the Policy Research Institute delivered the keynote papers on the second day. Prof Dr Abdur Rab, Vice Chancellor of the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology, and Dr Ben Bvepfepfe of Leeds Trinity University and CILT, UK, chaired the session.

Speakers from academia included Prof Dr M M Nurul Absar; Prof Dr Yousuf Mahbubul Islam; Prof Dr Shahjahan Khan; Prof Dr A K M Waresul Karim; Prof Dr Nazrul Islam; Prof Dr Mahbubur Rahman; Prof Jonathan Liu; Dr Derek Westfall; Prof Dr Md Sardar; Prof Dr Akhtar Hossain; Prof Dr Maniam Kaliannan; Prof Ruhul A Salim; and Dr Ferdous Saleheen.

Industry speakers included Niaz Rahim; A S M Mainuddin Monem; Dr Arif Dowla; Emeka Henry Egeson; Rezwanul Kabir; Kabir Ahmed; and A Gafur.

The conference held three parallel sessions where participants presented 106 research papers and 12 posters. A session titled "Meet the Journal Editors" allowed participants to speak with editors of journals that may publish selected papers.

More than 300 academics, researchers, students and industry leaders attended from over 12 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, India, Poland and the United Arab Emirates.
