Tahsan addresses political rumours after stepping back from music
Singer-actor Tahsan has been at the centre of discussion in recent months following his announcement to step away from music. Speculations and debates have since surrounded him—some claiming that he left music for religious reasons, while others alleged his association with a faith-based political party. The artiste has now addressed these rumours.
Speaking at a recent event in the capital, Tahsan said, "When I mentioned quitting music during my Melbourne concert, there were very few people present. I never imagined it would spread across the country like this. Just as I gradually stepped back from acting, I will also take a gradual break from music. I'm an emotional, poetic person—it came out spontaneously. That one statement led to so many things. I even saw my photo edited with a cap, linking me to a political party—as if I've joined politics!"
Tahsan believes such acts stem from a desire to go viral. "To me, it seems like part of the game. Some people now crave virality—it's happening all over the world. That's why one has to be very cautious while speaking. You never know when or how a single remark might spiral out of control," he said.
Addressing his decision to take a break from music, he explained, "This isn't the first time. I've taken breaks several times in my career. After leaving the band Black to start my solo journey, I stopped doing live shows for a few years. Later, when I went to the United States for my master's, I didn't release any songs or perform for two years. Now I'm taking another pause. I feel that in these 25 years, I've received more love than I ever expected. If I continue the same way, it may become monotonous. I've also given another answer elsewhere—that's true too. And there's one more reason, but I can't share it publicly. Everyone experiences certain moments in life that are so personal and unbelievable that even they can hardly comprehend them. I don't want to say anything that turns into a national issue."
Tahsan added that he now wishes to focus on his studies. "Life comes in chapters. In the first chapter, you feel like you know nothing. In the second, you think you've learned everything. I was in that chapter. Recently, I've realised that I actually know very little about life and the world. I need to study more."
