Sir Michael Caine is reportedly preparing to come out of retirement to reprise his role in a sequel to "The Last Witch Hunter". The 92-year-old actor is said to be in talks to return alongside longtime friend Vin Diesel, with Lionsgate and Diesel's One Race Films fast-tracking the project.

Caine, who originally played Dolan — a priest who supported Diesel's immortal warrior Kaulder — is expected to return to the character a decade after the 2015 film. While the first instalment underperformed in North America, earning $27 million, it found stronger commercial success overseas, grossing $119 million.

The news is especially significant given Caine's announcement of retirement in 2023, following his final role in "The Great Escaper". At the time, the two-time Oscar winner said he wanted to end on a high note, but the opportunity to revisit a beloved role seems to have lured him back.

Caine and Diesel's friendship stretches back more than three decades, beginning at a dinner party in the early 1990s. The two have remained close since, and were recently seen together in London, adding fuel to speculation about the sequel.

Caine's illustrious career spans over eight decades, with classics such as "The Italian Job", "The Dark Knight trilogy", and "The Cider House Rules". Knighted in 2000, he remains one of Britain's most celebrated actors. If confirmed, the sequel will not only mark his return to the screen but also reunite him with Diesel in a supernatural world of loyalty, friendship, and epic battles.
