DU students demand punishment for attackers

A group of students of Dhaka University demands punishment of the persons responsible behind the attacks on the students and teachers demanding reformation in the existing quota system in civil service.

A group of students of Dhaka University today demanded punishment of the persons responsible behind the attacks on the students and teachers demanding reformation in the existing quota system in civil service.

The students’ group under the banner of “Students Against Repression” submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor of the university in this regard this noon at the end of their agitation.

The students’ group has been demanding justice over the recent attacks on students and teachers since yesterday.

They held a rally at the base of Aporajeyo Bangla on the DU campus later.

They demanded a safe and democratic university campus suitable for education and devoid of terror and terror inducing people, the memorandum read.

The failure of the proctor and his team further weakens the faith of the students and teachers on the administration, according to the memorandum.

The students’ group also demanded resignation of the proctor in the memorandum.  

They also provided a list of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) members who were marked for carrying out the attacks.

Meanwhile, a group of teachers also rolled out a set of action plan condemning the assault on a DU professor.

The teachers have called for a solidarity rally at Aporajeyo Bangla on July 19 protesting the recent disorder in the campus and said they will write to the DU VC to take steps in this regard.
