Govt–Daffodil launch Court Automation System
Bangladesh has launched a major step in the digital transformation of its judicial system with the inauguration of the country's first e-Family Court operations.
The inauguration took place at the Jagannath–Sohel Memorial Auditorium of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court building.
The Centre for Software Development & Emerging Tech of the Department of CSE at Daffodil International University (DIU), together with Daffodil Software Ltd. (DSL), is developing and delivering the first fully integrated Digital Court Management and Case Automation Solution in the country.
The new e-Family Court platform is live from 24 November 2025 at Dhaka Family Court–5 and will be active from 30 November 2025 at Chattogram Family Court–1. Court users can now file cases online, access digital documents, and on a limited scale take part in online hearings. This reduces time, cost, and travel for litigants.
Distinguished guests at the inauguration included Prof. Dr Asif Nazrul, Adviser, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs; Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; Faez Ahmed Taiyyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser (ICT); Dr Md Sabur Khan, Founder and Chairman, DIU; Prof. Dr M. R. Kabir, Vice Chancellor, DIU; and Prof. Dr Sheikh Rashed Haider Noori, Head, Department of CSE, DIU. Senior DIU officials, CSE students, and government representatives were also present.
Prof. Dr Asif Nazrul said, "We will set the foundation for the e-Judiciary and e-Registration projects. Through technology, lawyers will be able to provide enhanced services, and the reform process will continue."
Syeda Rizwana Hasan praised the paperless system for its environmental benefits.
Faez Ahmed Taiyyeb said the initiative will enhance the professional efficiency of lawyers.
DIU Founder and Chairman Dr Md Sabur Khan said: "The commitment we are continuing to uphold using technology and innovation for national development is becoming evident once again. Universities must remain actively involved in solving real public service challenges. The e-Family Court and automation solution are proving how academic expertise and government priorities together are creating transformative, scalable and sustainable national impact."
He added that young people are capable of solving many national problems through innovation and technology.
"If we can clean the Turag River, then we can guide Dhaka toward becoming a modern, smart and environmentally city like Hong Kong. With the right engagement, youth will remain at the centre of transforming Dhaka into a well-planned, technology-enabled metropolitan model," he said.
Key technological features of the e-Family Court platform include:
- 24/7 online registration
- Online case filing and fee payment
- Paperless documentation
- Digital tracking and real-time updates
- Limited online hearings
- Legal aid integration
- Faster access for lawyers to digital records
The system, developed without government funding, is already being tested by 250–300 officials from the Judiciary, Ministry of Law, and the Supreme Court.
This collaboration between Government, University, and Tech Industry is creating a faster, transparent, and citizen-centred judicial service and marks a major advance for digital governance in Bangladesh.
