DU's Japanese Studies hosts 1st Japanese Speech Contest
Dhaka University's Japanese Studies department successfully hosted the 1st Japanese Speech Contest on November 16. On this day, the grand finale of Uchida Kraepelin presents 1st Japanese Speech Contest by the Japanese Language Club was held at Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium at the Faculty of Social Sciences building in Dhaka University (DU).
The final round ended with inspiring performances. Every finalist spoke with confidence and passion and showed their genuine love for the Japanese language, which mesmerised the guests and audience.
This contest was divided into two segments: Beginner Level and Upper Level. Following the preliminary rounds on November 6, 17 participants qualified for the final round from a total of 62 contestants. Among them, ten participants qualified for the Beginner Level and seven participants qualified for the Upper Level.
Zakaria Sayeem, Najatul Aisha, and Mst Nurzahan Khatun were the Beginner Level winners. Quazi Muktahim Mashid, Umama Shahed Momo, and Mohsina Nawaz were the Upper Level winners.
Distinguished guests who attended the event included Chief Guest Prof. Dr Sayema Haque Bidisha, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration), DU; Kazi Bushra Ahmed Tithi, Public Relations and Cultural Specialist, Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh; Dr Abdullah Al Mamun, Associate Professor and Chair of the Provost Committee, DU; and Dr Taiabur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, DU.
DU's Japanese Language Club moderator, Dr Lopamudra Malek, dedicated instructor, Kuniaki Okabayashi, and all the faculty members played a major role in making this event a success through their support and guidance.
