Scarlett Johansson is set to headline the next film in “The Exorcist” franchise, produced by Universal and Blumhouse–Atomic Monster. The new instalment will be written, directed and produced by Mike Flanagan, who has described it as a “radical new take” on the iconic horror property.

Friedkin’s most recent work as a director was 2017’s “The Devil and Father Amort.” He also had one upcoming film yet to be released — “The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial,” starring Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Clarke and Jake Lacy.
