BRAC Bank has announced a Tk 99 lakh sponsorship for the Brac Bank Oporajeyo Alo Women's Hockey Tournament, boosting Bangladesh's rapidly growing women's hockey scene.

BRAC Bank, one of Bangladesh’s leading commercial banks, had earlier supported the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) in organising a women’s development hockey tournament earlier this year.

In post-independent Bangladesh, there was a deliberate effort to kick-start women’s hockey, much before women’s cricket or football was a thing in this part of the world.

Bangladesh women’s hockey team registered back-to-back victories in the Women’s Hockey5s Asia Cup in Salalah, Oman.
