Instruction comes following recent accident in Satkhira

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has instructed party's leaders and activists across the country not to hold any election campaign using motorcycles or motorcades.

The Jamaat chief came up with the instruction following recent incidents of accidents, including the death of an elderly person after being hit by a motorcycle during a motorbike procession in Satkhira.

"Ahead of the upcoming national election, motorcycle rallies and motorcades have been seen in various districts and metropolitan areas. In the wake of several accidents and injuries during these programmes, the Jamaat ameer has imposed a ban on motorcycle rallies and motorcades in all district and metropolitan constituencies, effective immediately," Jamaat secretary general said in a statement today.

In Satkhira, an elderly man named Fazor Ali, 73, was killed after being hit by a motorcycle during a motorbike rally led by Jamaat-e-Islami's nominated candidate and central organisational secretary, Muhaddis Abdul Khalek.

The incident occurred on November 22 in the Badamtala Bazar area of Alipur union, under Sadar Upazila.
