Polash’s Dakbaksho Foundation to set up breastfeeding corners across Chattogram
Actor and director Ziaul Hoque Polash, known for his work on screen and his social initiatives, is set to launch breastfeeding corners at five key locations in Chattogram through his voluntary organisation, Dakbaksho Foundation. The initiative aims to support mothers with young children who often struggle to find safe and private spaces to breastfeed while outside the home.
In the first phase, breastfeeding corners will be established at the Chattogram Central Jail gate, the railway station and three recreational spots in the port city. The foundation plans to expand the service across several more locations in the coming months.
Dakbaksho Foundation recently presented the proposal to Chattogram City Corporation. Polash, who attended the meeting, said: "Dakbaksho will work to protect the health of mothers and children under the city corporation's jurisdiction. To make this initiative effective, we need the corporation's support."
Speaking about the inspiration behind the project, Polash added: "After becoming a father, I realised that my wife often could not breastfeed our child outdoors. From that day, I felt compelled to work on this issue. Through the foundation, I kept pushing for a solution. Now, we can finally see some hope. Chattogram City Corporation has expressed its support for our plan. The rest depends on time, but I hope everyone will stand with us."
