Shakib Khan-starrer ‘Antaratma’ set to premiere on iScreen
Shakib Khan's Eid release "Antaratma", which struggled at the box office due to minimal promotion, is now set for a fresh run on OTT. Streaming platform iScreen announced on Wednesday that the film will be available from December 4.
iScreen confirmed the news through a post on its official Facebook page, noting that viewers will finally get to watch the emotional, action-driven drama online after its underwhelming theatrical performance earlier this year.
Directed by Wazed Ali Sumon, "Antaratma" stars Shakib Khan opposite West Bengal actor Darshana Banik. The story follows Prottom (Shakib), whose parents were murdered by criminals when he was a child. As an adult, he becomes a feared figure among those very criminals — wealthy, powerful, yet deeply lonely. His life changes when he meets Rupkotha (Darshana), falls in love, and marries her, though peace continues to evade him.
The film was shot four years ago, in 2021, and was initially slated for release during that year's Eid-ul-Fitr. However, for reasons never fully clarified, its release was delayed until Eid 2024, when it finally hit theatres without any prior buzz.
While Shakib Khan's other Eid release, "Borbaad," became a hit, "Antaratma" suffered from a near-total lack of promotion. Shakib himself remained silent about the film, and other cast members also contributed little to publicity efforts. Darshana Banik was the only exception—she actively promoted the film on social media despite being unable to travel to Bangladesh.
As a result, "Antaratma" had a poor run: it was pulled from cineplexes before completing its first week and struggled to attract audiences in single-screen cinemas.
"Antaratma", produced under the banner of Taranga Entertainment by Sohani Hossain, features a supporting cast that includes Shahed Sharif Khan, Aruna Biswas, and Jhuna Chowdhury, among others.
The film now hopes to find a new audience on OTT, where many recent Bangladeshi releases have revived their viewership and popularity.
