Third quake of 4.3 magnitude jolts country in 32 hours
Another earthquake jolted Dhaka and several other parts of the country this evening, seven and a half hours after a tremor was recorded in Palash upazila of Narsingdi this morning.
The light quake measuring 4.3 magnitude on the Richter scale was felt around 6:06pm, said a Met office bulletin and the US Geological Survey (USGS).
The epicentre was located in Narsingdi, 23km from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department office in Dhaka's Agargaon.
The BMD officials had initially said the epicentre was located in Badda, but later corrected it.
According to the USGS, the epicentre was 2km from Ghorashal, Narsingdi.
No casualties or damage have been reported so far.
Earlier in the day, a tremor of 3.3 magnitude on the Richter scale was felt in Narsingdi's Palash around 10:36am. At that time, BMD officials had initially confirmed that the epicentre was in Baipail.
This is the third earthquake in a span of 36 hours.
Yesterday, 10 people were killed in a powerful earthquake that shook several parts of the country, including Dhaka.
According to the BMD, the tremor was recorded at 10:38am. It measured 5.7 on the Richter scale. The epicentre was located in Madhabdi, about 13km east of the Seismic Centre at Agargaon in Dhaka.
