Among the football events that fans around the world eagerly await, The Best FIFA Football Awards stands out as one of the most prestigious. Alongside honouring the world's best players, coaches and goalkeepers, the ceremony also celebrates football's most extraordinary moments. From global superstars to ordinary fans, everyone's attention is focused on who will emerge as the winners at the awards night.

The glittering 2025 edition of The Best FIFA Football Awards will start on Tuesday night. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner at the Fairmont Katara Hall in Doha, Qatar.

Ballon d'Or winner and PSG's French star Ousmane Dembele is considered one of the favourites in the race for FIFA's Best Men's Player award. He faces competition from Barcelona's Spanish winger Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid's French striker Kylian Mbappe. However, last year's winner, Real Madrid's Brazilian winger Vinícius Junior, has not been included in this year's final shortlist of 11 nominees. The other two members of last year's top three -- Rodri and Jude Bellingham -- have also missed out.

When does it start?

The 2025 The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony will begin at 11:00pm Bangladesh time at the Fairmont Katara Hall in Doha.

Where to watch

Football fans around the world will be able to watch the entire ceremony live and free of charge on FIFA's official website and FIFA Plus. In addition, the winners' names will be announced instantly across FIFA's social media platforms.

Performance assessment period

Players' performances between August 11, 2024 and August 2, 2025 have been taken into consideration. As a result, those who excelled in competitions such as the UEFA Champions League, domestic tournaments, the 2025 Women's European Championship and the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup for men will be well placed in the awards race.

How many awards will be presented?

A total of 12 awards will be presented. These are: The Best FIFA Women's Player, The Best FIFA Men's Player, The Best FIFA Women's Coach, The Best FIFA Men's Coach, The Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper, The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper, The Best FIFA Women's XI, The Best FIFA Men's XI, the FIFA Marta Award (best women's goal), the FIFA Puskas Award (best men's goal), the FIFA Fan Award and the FIFA Fair Play Award.

How the winners will be selected

In the women's and men's categories for best player, coach and goalkeeper, votes will be cast by national team captains and coaches, media representatives from each FIFA member association, and registered fans. Each of these four groups will carry equal weight, accounting for 25 per cent of the total vote.

Each voter was allowed to select three candidates, ranked in order: the first choice receives five points, the second three points, and the third one point. After voting concludes, the total points will be tallied to determine the winners.

The Women's and Men's Best XI will be selected through votes from professional footballers worldwide, with fans also taking part in the process. For the Marta Award and the Puskás Award, voting will be equally shared between fans and a panel of FIFA legends. The FIFA Fan Award winner will be chosen entirely by fans' votes, while the FIFA Fair Play Award will be decided by an expert panel.
