Chorki’s flash fiction ‘Thursday Night’ to premiere tomorrow
For many, Thursday night marks the beginning of the weekend and often ends with a night of partying. However, Jahid Preetom's upcoming web film "Thursday Night" is about much more than just a party. It explores a mysterious period of memory loss and the police's efforts to uncover what happened during that forgotten time.
Featuring Samira Khan Mahi, Shoumya Joyti, Farrukh Ahmed Rehan, and Tangia Zaman Methila, the film is essentially an investigative thriller centred on a group of friends and inspired by a true incident. While Samira plays the role of a police officer, the plot unfolds through various accounts from the friends, the police, and a driver, all revolving around the incident involving Methila.
According to Jahid Preetom, he wrote the story based on a real criminal event that took place in Bangladesh. The director explains that he has attempted to depict a single incident from multiple perspectives — what he refers to as the "Rashomon effect". "The story is indeed told from several viewpoints, but the conclusion rests entirely with the audience. They are the true judges here," he said.
"Thursday Night" is a joint production of Alpha-i and Chorki. It will be released on Thursday (November 27).
